We use the needle technique because it is more hygienic, causes less damage to the ear (especially cartilage) and heals better.

Each piercing has different healing times and will be  dependent on what you have had done. Your piercer will advise you on the estimated healing times when you have your piercing done. It is important not to change your jewellery too soon or before your piercing is healed.

First, to check for infection, look for signs of pus coming from the piercing site. This will be either green or yellow, and thick in consistency. There will be excessive swelling and an unpleasant smell. If you believe that you have these signs, do not leave it, clean the area as best you can, and seek medical advice immediately. We recommend going to your GP or Pharmacist.

It is always best to wait for your piercing to be fully healed to avoid complications. However, some people may wish to change their piercing sooner.

Your piercer will advise you as different areas of the body heal at different speeds. For example, cartilage piercings take longer to heal compared to lobes.

The pain levels for piercing varies from person to person.

All piercing has some small level of pain, however it is similar to a quick pinch and the initial pain is over once the piercing is finished.  Needle piercing is sharper than gun piercing and would be considered less painful. Tiredness, piercing area, and pain tolerance all play a role.

Unfortunately we cannot use your own jewellery to pierce with. This is because we are unable to determine the source of the jewellery and how sterile the jewellery is. We only use our own jewellery for the piercing as this has been sterilised, and certified for piercing.

We would advise you not to have a piercing while pregnant, as it can be a shock to the body and with any piercing you are at risk of infection.

It is important to notify your piercer if you believe you are pregnant.
